What Are Absolute Type Custom Rates?
Absolute type Custom Rates are a method to set shipping rates with a fixed nominal amount (flat rate). This means the shipping cost will not change based on weight or distance, but will follow the value you set.
Example:
In-city shipping: Rp15,000
Out-of-city shipping: Rp30,000
Steps to Set Up Absolute Type Custom Rates
1. Log in to the Biteship Dashboard
Log in using your Biteship account.
2. Open the Rates Menu
On the left sidebar, select Rates
Click Add New Rate to add a new rate.
3. Select Rate Type: Absolute
In the Rate Type section, choose the Absolute option.
This option means the shipping rate will have a fixed value that you specify.
4. Specify Custom Rate Details
Fill in the following information:
Rate Name: Name of the rate, for example In-City Rate
Courier Services: Select the courier services to associate (optional, can be left blank for general rates)
Origin & Destination: Specify the origin and destination areas where the rate applies
Price: Enter the fixed rate amount, for example:
15000Status: Activate to make the rate usable.
Click Save when finished.
5. Connect to Shopify
To have this rate appear in your Shopify store, make sure the Biteship–Shopify integration is active.
Go to Integrations → Shopify in the Biteship Dashboard
Ensure the integration status is Connected
In the Shipping Configuration section, select Use Custom Rates
Make sure the Absolute Custom Rates you created are checked or selected as one of the rate options displayed at Shopify checkout.
6. Test on Shopify Checkout Page
Open your store's checkout page, then enter the shipping destination address.
The rates you created will appear according to the configured area and set values.
Additional Tips
Use Absolute Rate for shipping promotions such as “Flat Rp10,000 across Indonesia.”
For different rates based on area or weight, you can create multiple Custom Rates.
Make sure the rate name is easy for customers to understand (example: “Fast Shipping - Rp20,000”).
