The Cash on Delivery (COD) feature in the Biteship dashboard allows you to create shipments with a payment method made by the customer upon delivery. This article explains in detail how to set up and manage COD orders through the Biteship dashboard.
What Is COD in Biteship?
COD (Cash on Delivery) is a payment method in which customers pay for their orders directly to the courier when the goods are received. Biteship facilitates this method for couriers that support COD services.
How to Create an Order Request with the COD Feature
Here are the steps to create an order using the COD method through the Biteship dashboard:
1. Log in to the Biteship Dashboard
Log in to your account via dashboard.biteship.com.
2. Access the "Order" Menu
- Click the Shipping menu on the left side of the dashboard, then go to the Orders tab.
- Select the “Send Package” button
3. Fill in the Shipping Information
Complete the following shipping details:
- Sender's address and recipient's address. (Make sure the data is entered completely, including the correct phone number and postal code, to avoid unwanted issues such as changes to the shipping cost and others.)
-
Package details, including weight, dimensions, and description. (Make sure the weight and package dimensions match the actual measurements. This is to prevent additional weight charges / payment remaining during the payment process).
4. Select a Courier That Supports COD
- After you enter the shipping details, Biteship will display a list of available couriers.
- Select a courier that supports COD services (marked with the “COD available” or “COD Available” label in the courier options).
- Make sure the selected service supports payment upon delivery.
- Check or activate the "COD" or "Cash on Delivery" option in the payment section.
- Enter the amount that the recipient must pay when the goods are received (COD value: shipping cost + package price).
*NOTE: If a COD courier does not appear, trigger it by selecting a courier that is already available for COD from the courier options. Make sure the COD option is checked and active, then the available COD courier options will appear.
5. Confirm and Create the Order
- Review the order details.
- Click “Create Order” to complete the process.
Tips for Using the COD Feature
- Make sure the recipient's address is complete and clear to minimise the risk of the goods being returned.
- Use the tracking feature in the dashboard to monitor the delivery progress.
- Inform customers that they must prepare cash in the amount of the COD payment when receiving the goods.
- Check the courier's policy regarding the disbursement time for COD funds to ensure it meets your expectations.
