Return cost is the fee charged to return a package from the destination address back to the senderโs address if the initial delivery is unsuccessful (for example, due to an address not found, buyer refusing to accept the package, or other reasons).
How Return Costs Are Calculated in Biteship
The calculation of return costs is determined by each courier and not set by Biteship. However, generally, there are two types of schemes used by couriers:
1. Return Cost = Full Shipping Cost (One-Way)
Some couriers charge the full cost for the return process, as if making a new shipment from the destination location back to the sender.
2. Return Cost = Percentage of Initial Shipping Cost
Certain couriers apply a lighter return fee, such as 50% of the initial shipping cost.
