Biteship provides claim services for shipments that experience damage or loss. The amount of claim compensation varies depending on whether the shipment is insured or not. This article will explain how claims are calculated under both conditions.
1. Claims with Insurance
If users choose to add insurance to their shipment, the claim amount will be calculated based on the insured value of the goods, with maximum coverage according to the declared and approved value of the goods.
Requirements:
- Insurance must be activated at the time of order creation.
- The value of the goods must be entered correctly during the shipping process.
- Supporting documents (such as purchase invoices) must be attached when submitting a claim.
Insurance Fee:
- An insurance fee of 0.5% of the value of the goods will be charged for each shipment using insurance.
Calculation:
- Compensation value = Insured value of the goods
- Compensation may be subject to certain deductions by the insurance provider (such as administrative fees).
Example: If you ship goods worth Rp1,000,000 and activate insurance:
- Insurance fee = 0.5% x Rp1,000,000 = Rp5,000
- Maximum compensation value = Rp1,000,000
- After deducting administrative fees (for example Rp50,000), the total compensation = Rp950,000
2. Claims without Insurance (Non-Insurance)
If users do not add insurance, claim compensation will follow the standard terms of the courier used.
Requirements:
- Claim submission must be accompanied by proof of damage or loss.
- Applicable for cases of negligence that can be proven to originate from the courier.
- Purchase invoice documents are still required as a reference for the value of the goods.
Calculation:
- Compensation value = the lesser of 10x the shipping cost OR the value of the goods on the invoice, with a maximum compensation limit of Rp1,000,000
Example 1:
- Shipping cost: Rp15,000
- Value of goods (invoice): Rp300,000
- Then: 10 x Rp15,000 = Rp150,000
- Compensation value = Rp150,000 (because it is less than the value of the goods and below Rp1,000,000)
Example 2:
- Shipping cost: Rp25,000
- Value of goods (invoice): Rp2,000,000
- Then: 10 x Rp25,000 = Rp250,000
- Compensation value = Rp250,000 (because the value of the goods exceeds Rp1,000,000 but is still below the maximum limit)
Example 3:
- Shipping cost: Rp150,000
- Value of goods (invoice): Rp5,000,000
- Then: 10 x Rp150,000 = Rp1,500,000
- Compensation value = Rp1,000,000 (because it exceeds the maximum compensation limit)
Conclusion
Activating insurance is highly recommended for shipping high-value goods, as it provides protection according to the value of the goods shipped. Without insurance, the claim value is limited and only refers to a maximum calculation of 10x the shipping cost or the value of the goods, with a ceiling of Rp1,000,000.
For optimal claim results, make sure to:
- Activate insurance when creating the order.
- Enter the value of the goods accurately.
- Keep supporting documents such as purchase invoices.
